World of work week

Primary 1 were extremely lucky during World of work week because we had so many wonderful visitors. We were very interested to hear about all of the different jobs that people do.We had visits from a nurse, a church and community children's worker, a dog trainer, an MSP, a biomedical scientist, a police inspector and a plater who builds ships. We would like to say a very big thank you to all of the people who took time out of their busy lives to come and give us a little insight into their experiences in the world of work.

We were able to ask each of our visitors questions.
As we have been learning about boats as part of our new topic, it was fabulous to watch a short video showing how a real ship was built.

We got to look at some 'germs' and learned how important it is to wash our hands carefully.

The dog trainer showed us how he uses a clicker to reward the dogs.

We had lots of fun playing the Mr Man game with Brian who is a P.E teacher.

We heard all about why he had chosen to be a P.E. teacher and told him about the sports that we enjoy taking part in.

The police Inspector even let some children try out parts of his uniform when he was explaining about it.

We were able to ask lots of questions.

We have met Mr Hawthorne before as he comes into school to help us with our RME topics and runs a Scripture Union club, but we got to hear about some of the different jobs he had too.

When we were hearing about being a nurse we really liked getting to look closely at the bandages and things that are used to help children in the hospital.

All of our visitors were absolutely super.
